NewsVan Troubles
Here's a video providing a little glimpse of a TV news day that I think many of you can relate to. What happens when the van dies?

If a Press Conference Falls in the Forest...
What happens when nobody shows at the mayor's press conference? The one guy who did gets to ask a LOT of questions!

The bad guy's inside...
Here's a little video recap of a few hours at a police standoff from a news photog's point of view.

Photog Pete O'Neal is the unquestioned leader in Baltimore for getting spot news. Pete has been on literally thousands of crime scenes. Pete knows first-hand the tragic circumstances of violent crime... his own mother was murdered by an intruder. Even with that load to bear...Pete has never lost his compassion nor his spirit for covering news.

In this clip, he explains how he got exclusive video of a kidnapped child just being found by the police.

Photog Manny Locke explains (in graphic terms) the difference between producers and shooters during a blizzard!

Snow
This is a profane 4-letter word now for the shooters in Baltimore and much of the East Coast. This winter in Maryland was a mother!
More snow fell this winter than in the last 5 winters combined. Over 5 feet total.
I know that's piddley compared to many of you shooters in the mountain states. But for us...this was the bear of all winters.
I swear we would have beat Santa Claus to death if we could find him thru this shit.
Rudolph...he is dead! That Fat Burl Ives singin' snowman...dead! Holly...jolly my ass.
Ah hell...truth is we were so spent from working all day and night in it that we really didn't have the strength to do much of anything. Work...sleep...work..sleep.
Ridden hard and put away wet. Lots of overtime and a fire inside our station during a newscast to boot, made for a winter we would all like to forget.

After the Shoot

After the ShootPhotogs in Cities Around the World Tell You Where to Go and What to Do!
Example: "...When in New Orleans many people automatically head for Bourbon Street in the French Quarter. That's fine if you like overpriced drinks, obnoxious tourists and the smells of vomit and urine. For something different, try Frenchmen Street in the Faubourg Marigny, just downriver from the Quarter."

Shooters who Report vs. Reporters who Shoot

Which career path is more challenging? The answer is difficult and one that can only be solved by the person in question. Contributing writer Tim King explains.
